TIFFANY VASE VERY SICK GLASS REPAIR

L C T signed and numbered  piece  was very sick (Louis Comfort Tiffany).  Years and years of use had deposited a coating on the inside of the vase.  The deposit was so thick it made the glass vase opaque. The worst  I have seen in forty two years of cleaning sick glass .  It was a beautiful vase and well worth the effort.

Antique Glass Repair broken crystal cruet

The antique broken glass cruet needed restoration.  This one came  from a set that has a beautiful sterling silver holder.  First  I cleaned  the inside .

Repair Scratched Crystal Bowl polish out wear

Scratched Bowl

Used and abused for many years this crystal bowl had many many scratches.  It holds many memories for years it was on gramas  table .  It held keys ,coins and pins.  The question is I can restore the bowl to its beauty and shine.

How to polish out scratches from crystal ?  This bowl is an example of the process .  I made a cork wheel that fit into the bowl. I then used some 3f (FFF) pumice and bridgeport milling machine to spin the wheel.  I mix the pumice with water untill it was like a milk shake. You have to be sure not to heat up the glass while polishing .  The heat will crack the glass.  The final polish is done with a felt wheel and cerium oxide.

The crystal plates needed to be polished.  The cloudy build up came from the dish washer.   Some times called to as sick glass.

A Venitian Glass Clown with one broken hand and one missing hand was sent from Dallas   Texas for repair.  First I cut off the small pieces left from the hand and ground it smooth. Then I made a new glass hand .  It looks like a micky mouse hand.  Its a white glove with only four fingers. They have been making glass clowns in Venice Italy for at least eighty years. I have made  Bo Ties , Balloons, Hats, Shoes, and every thing else for repairing them.

Antique Glass Perfume Bottle Baccarat

Antique Baccarat Perfume Bottle with a stuck and broken stopper. This Baccarat Bottle from the 1920’s contains valuable perfume. First task remove perfume and store safley . Then remove stopper and repair it.  I remember coming home and  knowing grama was in the house  as I came up the drive by the smell of her perfume . The smell of roses so thick you could taste them.

Antique Glass Chandelier Broken Crystal Arms

The movers broke several antique crystal arms on this Chandelier .The Chandelier was very dirty and rusty . The pins through the prisms had gotten wet and rusted. Repairing antique glass arms was the easy part.Cleaning and rewiring was the time consuming  part. I used white cloth covered wire per original . The clear plastic wire is less noticable but I like to keep  as authentic as possible .  Two of the strands of prisms were missing  I got lucky and had old ones in stock. I disassembled ,cleaned the glass and polished  the chrome pieces. When moving antique glass chandeliers they should be taken apart to relocate. We installed the restored chandelier in the dinning room .

Antique Glass Repair ; Iused old prisms were I could but I made a new drip prism for the very bottom of the chadelier . Customer didn’t know it was missing  .

Crystal Chandelier Restoration Complete   I enjoyed the transformation  and the client  call the moving company and thanked them. It was upsetting when they broke it  but it look so beautiful now .

Orrefors Crystal Repair Stained Vase

This Orrefors vase has a cloudy film on the inside caused by water being left in with the flowers for a long time.Antique Glass  Dealers refer to this as sick glass. I polished the inside making it look like new.
