New York Waterford Crystal Repair – Broken Glass Dreidel restoration

A precious glass dreidel is not a toy to play with.   In this instance, one of the grand kids did not listen and broke it accidentally.  They were delighted to know we could restore this piece.     The Waterford Crystal Dreidel was missing the handle .

Using a glass lath and a crystal rod I fabricated a new handle.   I was able to down load a full size picture and use it for a pattern of the original.

Sent for repair from New York, New York  and returned in time for passover.

Theyll know the next time to not let the kids play with it.

Daum Nancy glass figurine repair chipped and missing ear restoration

The ear was broken off and lost from a very expensive DAUM Nancy glass figurine.  I had to sculpt part of a new ear to fit on the dark amber Daum Glass horse .  Matching the very dark amber color was my first challenge . I made a dozen or more glass ears be for finding one I liked .    Daum glass  started with the notary Jean Daum      Daum  started making glass for watches and mirrors.            (1825-1885).

Antique Crystal Bowl Repair Broken Glass Foot

This bowl had a place of honor on grandmas dinning room table for over four decades .  There  it sat  with a stack of pennies taking the place of the missing foot. Grandmas birthday is coming up and wouldn’t it be nice to get the bowl repaired .  The local antique  dealers  and glass shops said it couldn’t be repaired .  What they should have said is they can’t repair it and they don’t know any one who can.

Missing Glass Leg

Cut glass bowl with a missing foot.   The leg broke off and was missed placed over forty years ago .

First step in the repair process to remove what was left of the broken leg on the cut crystal bowl.

By casting a mold of one of the good  glass legs I was able to make a new glass foot .

We were able to give grandma her pennies back after bonding the new foot to the bottom of the antique glass  bowl

The local “experts ”  got it wrong .  It  can be restored .  The crystal repair projects I work on now come from all over the world.

Crystal repair is now high tech with the use of UV adhesives and high temp molds .  Antique  cut glass bowls like this one are repairable . Crystal repair has come a long way in the last thirty years .

Steuben crystal eagle broken glass wings repair

The Steuben eagle was sent to me with two broken wings.  They broke off but it wasn’t a clean break.  I had to polish of what was left of the broken wings.

The painter broke the globe.  The cut glass globe goes to a  antique ceiling fixture.  It came in as a basket case.  I taped it together to see if we had all the pieces.

The adhesive is stronger than glass .  After repairing the globe I frosted the glass to remove all of the glue and hide the repair.

Antique Glass Repair broken crystal cruet

The antique broken glass cruet needed restoration.  This one came  from a set that has a beautiful sterling silver holder.  First  I cleaned  the inside .

The markings indicate it was make in England and its sterling silver.   Sent to me from a church in Boston Mass. this cruet is one of four that was purchased when they built the church.  The antique glass cruet was dropped and broken.  I cut off the broken bottom in line with the silver ring . I made a new glass bottom and foot .

Antique glass globe repair with missing pieces

The” gone with the wind oil lamp” has been in the family for many years .  Some one broke it and lost some of the pieces. This make the restoration of the glass globe very difficult.  First we reassembled the the pieces we had leaving a large hole that needed to be filled.   Casting  a mold off of the antique globe we were able to make a new curved white opal glass to fill the hole.

Waterford Crystal repair broken candlestick missing piece

The Waterford crystal candlestick was broken and they lost the pieces.  Making a piece to fit were the piece broke out was not an option. So I made a new top to replace were the glass was missing.
