antique glass repair millefiori bowl
August 5th, 2009 by Marc Konys - posted in All Repair Projects, Antique Glass Repair, Broken glassware, GlueingsThe term millefiori is a combination of the Italian words “mille” (thousand) and “fiori” (flowers)[1]. A. Pellatt (in his book “Curiosities of Glass Making”) was the first to use the term “millefiori”, which appeared in the Oxford Dictionary in 1849. The beads were called mosaic beads before that time. While the use of this technique long precedes the term millefiori, it is now frequently associated with Venetian glassware.
Antique glass repair of a venetian bowl . This antique glass millefiori bowl had a broken foot that needed repair. Because of the colorfull design the glass repair is perfect. This is a very hard bowl to make. It take a vert good glass blower to make a MILLEFIORI bowl. Lets fill it with pasta.
