crystal repair steuben bottle stopper
Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 Posted in All Repair Projects, Antique Glass Repair, Broken Decanter Repair, Stopper Repair, chipped glassware | No Comments »Its a small little chip on the bottom of the stopper. Steuben makes the finest crystal in the world but they made colored glass many years ago. This is one of the old “ colored glass” Steuben pieces. They are very valuable so a small chip is well worth repairing. The repair is simple just grind the stopper down . The important part is to match the same grit size so the frosting on the glass is the right . I have been a crystal repair man for thirty years and I love glass. I get crystal sent to me from around the world and I very lucky to be able to repair so many nice pieces of glass.
Shown above is the stopper before repair.
The old Steuben glass is very valuable and very beautiful. Its one of my favorite glasses to work on.

Crystal Repair Waterford Candy Dish
Saturday, January 2nd, 2010 Posted in All Repair Projects, Chipped Glass Repair, Waterford Crystal Repair | No Comments »The cover of the Waterford Crystal candy dish had a large chip in it. I was able to repair it by grinding and polishing out the chip but the lid didn’t fit any more it was very loose. I needed to make the lid a smaller diameter. I cut a piece of crystal the right size and ground in a taper like on a stopper.
The lid fits just right now .

glass clown repair
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Antique Glass Repair, Crystal Repair Pictures | No Comments »A Venitian Glass Clown with one broken hand and one missing hand was sent from Dallas Texas for repair. First I cut off the small pieces left from the hand and ground it smooth. Then I made a new glass hand . It looks like a micky mouse hand. Its a white glove with only four fingers. They have been making glass clowns in Venice Italy for at least eighty years. I have made Bo Ties , Balloons, Hats, Shoes, and every thing else for repairing them.
This is the new hand I made.
Glass restoration complete, back on the shelf so the grand kids don”t get to it.

glass repair testimonial
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Broken Stem, Chipped Glass Repair, Testimonials, Waterford Crystal Repair, broken glassware | No Comments »I am writing the following to attest to the great skill of the Bruening Glass Works, Inc. personnel. Several months ago my wife, while filling a Waterford Crystal vase with clean water, accidently tapped the base of the vase against the sink. The base separated from the body of the vase and sustained a substantial chip when it landed in the sink. We immediately called the jewelry store from where the vase was purchased to ask about its repair. They referred us to an outfit in Los Angeles, CA. We were told to send an email with pictures, and we would be instructed on how to proceed. Several months and six emails later I still had not heard a word from the California outfit. So, I did a goggle search for Waterford Crystal repair and the Bruening Glass Works, Inc. was one of the first entries. Being there were some nice testimonials, I emailed Marc at Bruening Glass. He responded immediately, and based upon our conversations (both email & telephone) we shipped our vase to him. In all honesty, we did not expect that much of anything could be done — we just wanted the vase to stand upright & hold flowers. We had written it off as far as it looking really nice ever again. We were extremely pleased and surprised when the vase was returned to us a couple of weeks later. Knowing what March had told us about the repair, we knew it would be a little shorter than when it was new (the broken parts had to be ground down a bit). Other than that, there was no evidence of any repair work. As far as we are concerned the vase is as good as new — the work is unbelievably good!!! In short, please do not hesitate to enlist the services of Bruening Glass Works, Inc. The craftsmanship is superb, its prices are reasonable, and the service is top-notch.
Thanks Marc for doing such remarkable work on an impossible repair.
Bruce & Carmen Mills
