CRYSTAL REPAIR SWAROVSKI UNICORN BROKEN HORN

I have repaired at least fifty Swarovski Crystal unicorns over the years. It is very common to break the horn off. This time the crystal horn broke off and the pieces were lost. I have make a lot of horns ram , bull, dragon,but this was my first unicorn horn. I did not get it on the first try as seen in the picture.

After making the new horn I etched the glass . Then I attached it to the head of the Unicorn.

Red on clear glass decanter came in with a broken neck.

The Steuben crystal beaver had a broken tail. It was sent to me for repair. It wasn’t a very clean break so I ground and polished the chipped glass . I had to reshape the tail also.

Glass repair Faberge Egg broken glass base

A beautiful red glass ” FABERGE EGG” with a broken base was sent to me for repair. This piece was made in Russia St. Petersburg as stated on the label. The copper wheel engraving of the double eagle is the main design with a very delicate boarder on the base .

I use a matching red glass to fabricate a new base . The engraved boarder matched the design of the Faberge Egg. Glass restoration like this is fun. A little creative thinking and for thought the glass egg will go back on display.

Press glass table broken in many pieces was sent to me from Cambridge Maryland. It had been in the family a long time and they didn’t think any thing could be done. They went to the internet and ask “can broken cut glass be repaired”. That is how they found me. I have never seen a traditional cut glass pattern like this pressed in a glass so large. The glass top is close to thiryt inches across I would like to see what the base is.

Crystal Repair Antique Glass Stopper

A pair of Antique crystal cruets with a very delicate cut pattern were sent to me for repair. The one crystal bottle was missing apart of the stopper. They sent along the top of the antique crystal stopper but the bottom had broken off and was lost. They also sent along one good antique cut glass cruet that need a stopper and one good crystal stopper.

Crystal repair like this requires some glass blowing to make the new parts.

Antique glass repair is made a lot harder when like this piece because they tried to glue it them selves. They used a silicone glue and there are no known solvents for it . It took a lot of rubbing and scraping to remove the silicone. Then we were able to repair it.

LaLique Crystal Perfume Bottle Repair

This is the first time I have worked on a LaLique Crystal Bottle like this. Over thirty years of repair I have worked on a lot of LaLique Crystal. There were chips around the stopper holes so I polished then out then etched then to match .

Broken in three pieces and a failed attemp to glue together with silicone is how it came to me. Crystal repair is a lot harder after you get sililone adhesive all over the pieces and sililone adhesive is the worst to get off. There are no solvents to remove it . All you can do is scrap. The antique glass “China Man” is not a valuable glass figurine but holds a memory.

Over the last thirty years of repairing crystal I know I been able to get more than one guy out of the dog house.

The crystal decanter had a broken neck and they were missing pieces. The crystal repair job was going to be more than a glue job. I needed to replace the broken neck .I cut off what was left of the old one and attached the new neck. Its not a perfect match to the old neck but very close.
