Crystal Repair broken glass figurine

Broken in three pieces and a failed attemp to glue together with silicone is how it came to me. Crystal repair is a lot harder after you get sililone adhesive all over the pieces and sililone adhesive is the worst to get off. There are no solvents to remove it . All you can do is scrap. The antique glass “China Man” is not a valuable glass figurine but holds a memory.

Over the last thirty years of repairing crystal I know I been able to get more than one guy out of the dog house.

A beautiful antique jade horse came in with broken legs. No I didn’t shoot the horse I repair it. Carved jade is a lot like glass it has a translucent green color.

Antique glass repair is very rewarding. This glass figurine had been broken for years before they found me. Even with pieces missing I was able to complete the restoration.

Crystal Repair Broken Swarovski

Swarovski Crystal Elephant broken and missing tusk

The crystal elephant came in broken and missing a tusk. Reattaching the tusk was the first step. Them I made a new glass part for the Swarovski Elephant using the old glass tusk as a guide. Etching the new glass part to match the old was the final step in the glass restoration.

Blowen glass horse with broken leg in for repair.

This is a borosilicate glass and can be reheated or fused with heat. Reheated very carefully with a torch.

The broken antique glass clown was ship to me for repair. The restoration included removing the old glue that had yellowed. The new repair will not yellow or come apart.

A Steuben crystal quail came in with a broken and missing ” thing on its head” I don’t know what to call it. So with a little research I found picture of a good one . I then made a new wachama call it.

I ground and polish the top of the birds head to remove what was left of the old piece of glass. With a picture of how it use to look I made a new “wachama call it” that goes on top of the quail head.

This martini glass came in with a broken stem. With a little tlc its as good as new.

These glass figurines came to me to be repaired . Most of the pieces were there but I did have to make a hand for the man. Glass restoration like this is fun because the change is dramatic. Venetian Glass Figurines can be restored to look like new.
