The old crystal pitcher has been in the family for many years.  It has served many cold drinks at grandmas house. The sentimental value is the motivation for the repair. A crack has run from the top down the left side of the handle almost to the bottom.  The plan is to run the crack around the bottom of the handle and up the right side of the handle to the top.  Controlling the path the crack takes is critical. I have spend  years refining this skill.

It is ready to be used.  The adhesive makes most of crack go away.  Look close and you can see a little of the crack.

Orrefors crystal repair chipped and broken glass birds

The crystal birds were dropped and broke. I need to cut off the broken pieces.  Then  layout the pieces and make a drawing of the pieces needed. I  made the replacement pieces of glass .  The hard part of this restoration is the fitting of the new pieces.

Crystal Repair chipped and broken Steuben Crystal Bunny

Not sure of the story but the bunny was broken and repaired many times over the years.  It was sent to me for repair with a plea to make it look better.   The Steuben Crystal bunny was in bad shape both ears had been broken off and there were many chips and dings.

Crystal repair Lalique broken and chipped glass

The  broken Lalique Crystal  statue was a present give to a customer in his eighties. He received it  when he was a young man.  It holds  great sentimental value and he wanted to repair it rather than replace it.  Some one tried to repair it. It was covered in glue and a number of large pieces were missing. I will need to recreate the missing piece.  

I use a foot from a broken Lalique compote to make the block .

The final step is to etch the glass to match.  If you look close there is a small line were it was  glued.

This Daum Nancy vase is very expensive and holds a lot of sentimental value.  When it got broken they almost threw it out.  This vase is shipped in a very nice box that has foam rubber cut to fit the vase.  The form rubber was useful in the repair  . It gave me a pattern to make the new glass replacement part.   The shape and size of the crystal top mirrors the foam.

I removed the  broken crystal piece  from the green base. Then I make a replacement crystal vase to replace the broken one.

CRYSTAL REPAIR STEUBEN TROUT MISSING FIN

I need to make a new fin . I cut the rough shape of a new fit .  Steuben crystal is very clear so I used a broken Steuben Plate  so the glass would match .

Crystal Award Repair Broken Glass Trophie

My first Crystal  Bowling Trophy repair.  A true treasure with enormous sentimental value brings you back to the glory days of bowling.   A friend found the broken award and sent it to me restoration. It had been broken forever .

Antique Steuben Glass Candlestick Repair Broken Crystal Top

The Steuben Crystal Teardrop Candlestick is one of the largest candlesticks they made.  It is very common for people to forget to put out the candles after dinner.   When the candle  burns  down the heat cracks the candle cup.  I have repaired  many of these over the years by making a new candle cup.

Antique Glass Repair Seuben Crystal Penguin

The antique glass penguin was broken and put away years ago.  The glass was discovered and the search was on to find some one to repair it.  The one fin was broken off and many of the small pieces were lost.  That  Steuben Crystal penguin held memories of years go by.

I used a piece of Steuben Crystal to sculpt the replacement wing because of the color . Steuben is forty nine percent lead and very clear.  The lead also makes it very soft so I have to use the very best cerium oxide for the final step in the polishing process.
