Crystal Repair broken glass figurine

Crystal repair is a lot harder after you get sililone adhesive all over the pieces and sililone adhesive is the worst to get off. There are no solvents to remove it . All you can do is scrap. The antique glass “China Man” is not a valuable glass figurine but holds a memory.

Over the last thirty years of repairing crystal I know I been able to get more than one guy out of the dog house.

Glass Figurine broken off base
Antique glass repair is very rewarding. This glass figurine had been broken for years before they found me. Even with pieces missing I was able to complete the restoration.

I removed the good ear and made two new ears. No one will know the ears match and her husband can get out of the dog house. Friends Romans lend me an ear.

Being able to make ears ,noses ,trunks, tails,and other parts gives me alot of options when restoring glass figurines. Under categories there is a heading call zoo it holds before and after picture of crystal animals I have repaired.

Crystal sail sculpture repair

By reshaping the base and the glass sail this piece is as good as new. Many steps are involved in this type of restoration.

Large glass sculpture repair is made easy by my large milling machines. In the window with the ocean as a back drop is were this belongs. Another piece is save from the trash.

This is a borosilicate glass and can be reheated or fused with heat. Reheated very carefully with a torch.

The restoration included removing the old glue that had yellowed. The new repair will not yellow or come apart.

Antique Crystal Fish Repair

The paper lable on the bottom says its from Italy the island of Murano. Grama had it her house for many years . She tells the story how she carried it home from her trip. Broken for years and missing many small pieces I had to restore the Venetian Glass Fish. Very carefull grinding and polishing removed the missing chips.

So with a little research I found picture of a good one . I then made a new wachama call it.

I ground and polish the top of the birds head to remove what was left of the old piece of glass. With a picture of how it use to look I made a new “wachama call it” that goes on top of the quail head.
