Crystal Repair Broken Candlesticks

Only one of  the candlesticks were broken but I repair both .  I replaced the bobeches and attached the candle cups.

The age old question of whether hiring  a professional to make a repair or attempting to do it yourself is timeless. In this case, I was able to repair the original damage, and fix the damage from the attempted repair, as well.  The old glue had yellowed, and the super glue finger prints needed to be removed. This kind of glue may be able to stick a man to a steel beam, but it won’t repair a delicate glass candlestick. Super glue is the wrong adheasive for glass. By letting the candle burn too low the candle cup was cracked. This is a common repair, and easy for me to do- send it to a professional.

Crystal Repair Heisey Glass

One broken Heisey Crystal candle stick needs repair, and it’s mate needs to be altered to match. This candle stick was badly broken below the candle cup and some pieces are still missing.  Once the first candle stick is repaired I can shorten the other piece to make them a match set once again. Antique crystal such as Heisey is often signed. This piece with a small H inside a diamond.

Broken crystal candlestick needs restoration. This has two broken candle cups caused by letting the candle burn down to low and the heat from the flame breaks the glass.  First  I ground off what was left of the broken candle cups and polished it flat. Then I made two new candle holders and attached them . Antique glass repair is a big part of my buisness.  I like fixing things that other glass shop said can’t be fixed. This customer was told it was irreparable. This was broken not chipped so a shop that can only grind and polish is unable to restore a pressed glass candlestick such as this.

This time of the year out come the candles and if you let them burn down to low they will crack the glass.

 I made two new glass parts to replace the broken steuben candlestick top and bottom.  This $900.00 Stueben candlestick is ready to use .When I repair  Steuben Crystal  the restoration are cost effective. Glass blowing is the key to this repair . With out the ablity to make new parts this broken crystal candlestick would end up in the trash. This antique crystal candlestick will make many more Christmas Dinners.
