Waterford Crystal Cake Knife Broken Handle

Waterford Crystal Cake Knife Broken Handle

Waterford cake knife is not a good choice for cutting ice cream cake. The glass did not break the metal handle did. In all the years repairing crystal I think this is a first. I removed what was left of the knife blade from the glass handle and silver soldered it. I put it back on the glass handle and its ready for the next party . Use the old big knife on the DAIRY QUEEN cake .

I have a Waterford Cut Crystal Cake knife of the same design as the one displayed in your web site repair photo of a cake knife. During our Christmas Day family gathering our knife managed to “somehow” fall to the tile floor of our kitchen and shatter the handle. My grandson, who was at the scene, denies any involvement with the damaged knife. All that is left of the handle is a 1″ piece of the crystal attached to the metal housing of the knife. The crystal handle needs complete replacement.

What is the cost for such a repair?

Is an actual Waterford made crystal handle used as a replacement?

Is it worth repairing or should I just buy a new knife?

    Thank you!

Fantastic work! I have a china cabinet with a large glass “J curve” piece that broke 2 years ago. I couldn’t find anyone that could/would replace the piece till I stumbled upon Bruening Glass.

Marc was easy to work with and did a great job on the replacement piece. Also took special care to ship it safely to my home. Just replaced the glass yesterday and couldn’t be happier. Looks great!

    Thanks Marc!

I have a wedding cake knife without a handle. It belonged to my mother and I am looking for someone who can restore it. Can you do that and what would you charge? The knife itself is in good condition, it only needs a handle. Thank you!
